Camera Bag:

My Camera equipment of choice is Canon. I currently carry a 1N and A2E bodies with the 1N being my favorite. The 1N is equipped with the optional battery booster for higher speeds and longer battery life.  For lenses I will usually carry the 20-35, 100 macro, 28-105, 70-200, 100-400IS and the 500 F4 IS. I must state this new IS technology has changed the way I operate as the ability to capture tack sharp images at lower shutter speeds is revolutionary.  If I had to pick a favorite lens that I reach for most often it would be the 70-200 with the Canon 1.4 and 2x extenders.

I have recently purchased a complete Mamiya RZ system in 6 x 7 format and enjoy learning how to use it for landscapes and scenics.

My tripod is a Gitzo 1548 carbon fiber with a quick release Arca Swis B1G ball head. I also will use a Wimberly sidekick head when using mainly the 500. I tend to “go overboard” when looking for stiffness in a tripod. Others in our field say this tripod is overkill and really not needed, but I would rather have “to much” when a huge bull moose is presenting me with the photo opportunity of a life time, than not enough.

I really don’t have a favorite film other than I use what the conditions dictate. For slides I will use Velvia and Provia 100F. I also love using Reala 100 for print films and probably shoot an equal mixture of both slides and prints. I prefer print films for notecard stock and for enlarging as I feel it gives sharper prints but I realize magazines still perfer the slides so I try to take a mixture.
